Anyone who has worked on sailboats long enough knows about the superstition of placing coins at the base of the mast for good luck. The good luck is to keep the mast from coming down. I went ahead and placed an american silver eagle coin at the base of the main compression post.
I cutout a small recess in the coosa board mast step, and “potted” the coin in with epoxy after polishing it up and removing any tarnish. The coin is 0.999 fine silver dated 2006, which is about the time we started working on this project.
